Without trying to sound pretentious, I think the meaning of Arirang can be known through BTS’ initial recording of the song from the late 2010s.
Without giving away the most important parts of “Arirang,” for people who can’t or couldn’t truly know (non-Koreans), this take of the song is perfect in execution and flawless in diction. It is South Korea to a T.
